Technology in practice
Gatot Prio Utomo's career spans the systems organizations depend on and the institutions responsible for them. At Bank Mandiri, he led enterprise systems and technology modernization initiatives, from corporate applications and ERP to infrastructure supporting digital banking and operational resilience. As a Director at PT NTT Data Indonesia, he later brought together business strategy, multidisciplinary delivery, risk committee responsibilities and audit oversight for financial industry solutions and services.
Institutions & public value
His public-sector experience extends that perspective from the enterprise to national governance. He served as Special Staff to the Vice President of Indonesia from December 2022 to February 2024, contributing to public service digitalization, digital government transformation and bureaucratic reform. His advisory work with the University of Indonesia's Center for Study of Governance and Administrative Reform includes the National Development Risk Management Blueprint, connecting policy, institutional capacity and implementation.
Research, learning & law
Teaching and research provide another foundation. He taught IT Strategic Planning and IT Risk Management in BINUS University's master's program, undertook strategic management research with UGM's Center for Transportation and Logistics Studies, and pursued doctoral research on organizational learning and project capabilities. His studies in law at Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Hukum Gunungjati (2023–2026) add a legal perspective to this background. At Utomo Institute, this combination informs a practical question: what must an organization understand, strengthen and govern before a promising technology can deliver lasting value?
